Welcome to the KISC 2026 registration & F.A.Q! You are about to register your group for the adventure of a lifetime in Switzerland!
Registration link is below the F.A.Q.s...
Our Founder, Lord Baden-Powell, dreamed of one place where Scouts could meet, live in peace, and learn from each other.
Only 13 years after the first scout camp on Brownsea Island, the first international event took place: the first World Scout Jamboree. At the Jamboree's closing ceremony, B.P. said that he dreamed of one place in the world, where this “Jamboree” feeling of world brotherhood, peace and international friendship - would happen all year long. His dream became reality in 1923 when Kandersteg International Scout Centre was founded in the small village of Kandersteg, Switzerland.
To provide youth an international scouting opportunity to develop new skills and build their confidence in an adventure based outdoor setting.
• To help give Scouters & Rovers the skills & confidence to take youth on future international adventures.
• To inspire Rovers to engage in International Rovering and register for future Moots.
• To improve Canadian Scouting by participants bringing what they learn abroad home for Canadian events
• To increase retention of youth & Scouters by instilling the concept of World Scouting and sparking their imagination of future Scouting opportunities
Scouters from different parts of Canada have come together to plan an amazing Scouting adventure to a beautiful International Scout Centre. The approach simple: Plan a camping adventure that others can join.
• Groups will plan their own program and adventures with the help of our program team.
• Groups can choose guided or self-guided adventures.
• Groups will be cooking their meals at their campsites.
Friday, July 3 – Sunday, July 12th, 2026
All members of Scouts Canada are eligible to attend. Groups will decide what works best for them and their youth members. Keep in mind that the program is geared to Scout aged youth and up.
$ 650 Canadian for youth under 16 (at time of trip)
$ 700 Canadian for everyone 16 and older due to Swiss tourist tax.
Additional costs are discussed below.

KISC offers a grocery service where most food can be ordered in advance and is available for pick up daily. Mornings 8:00-9:00 and evenings 18:30 to 19:30. Costs are reasonable considering how expensive the cost of living is in Switzerland. Groceries must be ordered two weeks in advance and will be added to each Group’s bill for payment at check out.
There is a Co-op grocery store in the town of Kandersteg which is well stocked. Groups may wish to include a Quartermaster in their rosters.
Unfortunately for the summer of 2026, KISC has informed us that they have no indoor accommodations available for booking.

Individual Scout Groups decide their own make up i.e. Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, etc…
No. Your Group decides what’s best - there is no limit on youth and Scouters as long as you remember to follow the Scouts Canada requirements around the two-Scouter rule and ratio. As mentioned above, adding a Quartermaster or Chef might be advisable.
There is no minimum group size as long as two-Scouter rule is respected. Smaller groups will be twinned for campsite and cooking purposes.
Individual Rovers (18 at the time of the trip) are very welcome! Rovers will be organized into a "Mini-Moot" and are permitted to register individually or as a group of Rovers.
Individual Scouters may register, but please understand that we will not have a lone Scouter take the spot of a youth. Lone Scouters can register, but your spot will not be guaranteed until youth registration closes on Dec 15, 2025. Lone Scouters are better off joining a group.
As this is different than a Jamboree, we don’t have the ability to accommodate individual youth, however, we can try to connect youth with another Group where possible.
The Contingent Kit details will be released later in 2025, however, it will include t-shirts neckerchief and crests.
Yes, additional items will be offered. We would encourage participants to provide input about items that they would potentially purchase.
Switzerland uses the Swiss Franc. (They are not part of the European Union) Euros are accepted in Switzerland in some places however they provide any change back to you in Swiss Francs.
Except for the one Contingent excursion, your Group will plan and book your own program plan. KISC offers several onsite and offsite program opportunities, some are free, and many have a reasonable fee per person. The KISC staff can also book your offsite/commercial excursions, usually at a reduced fee. Day trips to Bern, Thun and Interlaken are just a couple of suggestions.
The process for program planning is unique to KISC, so we have a program team to help your youth get the most out of their KISC adventure. We will have a series of Virtual Meetings to showcase what KISC has to offer, and to answer youth & Scouter questions. Our team has personal experience with most of the on-site program and off-site adventures available at KISC. Many adventures have a minimum number of participants, but we will help partner you with other groups to meet any minimums. Our goal is to ensure that every individual youth gets their ideal KISC experience. We will accomplish this by sharing Scouters, working together, and having our team assist as needed.”

When calculating your total adventure costs, you need to also consider these factors:
• Contingent fee
• Flight and travel costs. Extra luggage fees, especially for tents
• Train fare from Zurich, Geneva or Frankfurt
• Your program fees, including transportation and excursions.
• Cost of food and gas for in camp meals
• The costs of the additional meals required both in camp and on day trips etc…
• Additional transportation costs
Groups will pay their final bill at ‘Check out’ on the last day. The KISC office accepts cash (Swiss Francs), credit card and wire transfers. Switzerland is an expensive country, however, by utilizing the services offered by KISC for program booking, there are ways to save.
• Personal gear for outdoor camping
• Tents
• Small backpack (daypack to carry items needed in activities, offsite etc)
• Badges and neckers for trading
• Lightweight tarp for your campsite Further suggested gear kit will be released at a later date.
The campsite is for 1,200 campers and is geared reflect the atmosphere of a miniJamboree. As summer is peak season, we can expect Scouts from various European countries to also be camping. Our Canadian Groups will each camp on different sites, allowing an opportunity to meet and engage with other Scouts for a truly international experience.
The campsite is fairly open with some trees.
During the summer months we are most likely to experience good weather. The weather varies dramatically though based on your location. KISC. Kandersteg Village are in a high elevation mountain valley, so any storms tend to come and pass quickly. Daytime temperature around 25 degrees with a sudden cooling at sunset to 12-15 degrees.as the valley enters shadow.
When traveling on out-trips to Bern, Interlaken, etc, the temperature can be substantially higher with 30 degree days being quite common. If you go high enough in to the mountains you can expect snow… So over the course of a day in Switzerland, you could experience ALL weather!
The Centre is located approximately 1.5km from the village centre and train station. There is a local bus which runs hourly from the Train Station to the Centre during the day time. Wear your scout necker for free access. It’s also a great, short walk!
KISC is in the south, in the Alps.
Approx. 3.5 hours by train from Geneva
Approx. 2.5 hours by train from Zurich
Switzerland, like most European countries, is easy to navigate and to communicate in English for visitors. At KISC, English is the working language.
While we will not be booking flights for groups, we will be here to offer advice and assistance and can connect you with travel agents that have experience working with Scouting groups
Flights to Geneva, Zurich or Frankfurt are all easy train journeys to Kandersteg.
As each Group is responsible for your own travel booking, all manner of travel is left to your own arrangements.
We would like everyone to arrange to arrive at KISC no later than 3 PM on Friday, July 3rd, 2026.
Depending on where you are arriving you can use Swiss Travel Pass or a EuroRail pass. Each have these advantages, differ in costs etc…Our team has great experience with these and can offer advice and suggestions.
